A fond farewell to Faith Petric

image from SFGate:  http://www.sfgate.com/music/article/S-F-Folk-Music-Club-leader-Faith-Petric-dies-4975619.php Faith Petric, matriarch of the San Francisco folk music scene, passed away on Oct 24, 2013 at the age of 98.  The Quake City Jug Band had its genesis at the San Francisco Free Folk Club jam at Faith's house in the mid 1990's. it was there at a basement jam that Dennis Campagna assembled Myron, Natasha and Yakin to start the QCJB. Steve Scott, another Folk Club regular joined the band awhile later.    Steve took his mandolin and went to visit with Faith just a couple of short weeks before she passed away. She loved the bug song! And in spite of her very weak state, she sang and hummed along with other old tunes that he played for her.  Faith, thank you for years of encouragement, support and music. May your spirit live on in all of the musical unions that you fostered!

SF Free Folk Festival follow up

Well the SFFFF is getting better every year. Thank you to the amazing efforts of the entire VOLUNTEER staff of the festival for all of their amazing work and dedication. And the sound crew was the BEST. It was an honor for Quake City Jug Band to be asked to play on the main stage. We had a blast! Thanks to the terrific audience and the dancers, too! John Tuttle gave a workshop on Sunday called Music Theory for Non-Instrumentalists. He created a groovy tool for analyzing and understanding relative notes on a scale which you can download here:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/o4b6wvyeiuedmy0/Lferbt4xkn Feel free to email John with questions.
