Bio & Contact

Quake City Jug Band started out as an authentic jug band in the 1990’s San Francisco Folk Club scene. Their sound and act has grown over the years to include snare drum, tap dancing, accordion, vocal harmonies, and feather boas. Their repertoire features 1920’s and 1930’s American blues, jazz and swing, a couple of songs in mediocre French, some very funny originals, and several covers of their favorite living jazz artists, Catherine Russell, Casey MacGill, and The Squirrel Nut Zippers.

The band’s core is a quartet of guitar, bass, accordion, snare drum, and vocals. They have a large roster of guest artists who often play with them. The Quake City Big Jug Band, is an expanded version of the band which includes a horn section and full drum kit.

The Quake City Sidewalk Band is yet another version of our band, hatched on the sidewalk in front of our house during the Pandemic. The Sidewalk band is "jammier" and includes songs by John Prine, The Band, Sade, Elle King, Chris Stapleton and more.

At the core of Quake City Jug Band is Natasha Haugnes (snare, vocals, tap, guitar), John Tuttle (guitar, vocals, accordion) and Rich Trevor (bass). See our "guests" tab for info about other members!
