RIP Myron Grossman, Quake City Jug Band bass player. Myron passed away on Monday evening after a valiant battle with brain cancer. Myron was one of the original 1994 members of the band, along with Dennis Campagna, Yaquin Brian Rohsenow, and Natasha. He started out as the harmonica and slide kazoo player, and evolved into the bass player, always bringing Myron spunk to whatever he sang or played. (We have tried, but never been able to reproduce his version of Sweet Georgia Brown!) Myron also introduced Natasha and John which led to a happy marriage, two kids, and John joining the band. Myron continued to play as long as he possibly could, showing up for one final set with QCJB at the Kensington Farmers Market in January, where Mary Gribbin held the bass for him. Myron's choosing to LIVE these last two years of his life since his diagnosis has been inspiring. We are eternally grateful for his wife Ping who is also part of the QCJB family. Steve, John and Natasha played QCJB songs for Myron at his bedside on Saturday night. He was no longer able to sing or play, but his presence was strong. We are heartbroken. "Sweet Home lovin' heaven, heaven... throw the gates wide open"... there's a great soul on his way.
